What is taiyaki? Taiyaki is a tradition Japanese desert, similar to a waffle. There is a filling inside each golden-brown, fish shaped pastry. Traditionally it's anko (a sweet red bean paste), but custard, matcha, and ham and cheese are popular fillings.
